Tyler Engh

I’m an entrepreneur and investor in hard tech. I was raised in Chicago and live in Connecticut.

I started R7 in 2014 to invest in companies building in the physical world. Today, my passion is funneled into physical AI and the frontier of industrial technology — robotics, defense, space, ocean systems, manufacturing, and infrastructure. The hard parts aren't just software.

I was an investor in Bloom Energy (IPO), AEye (IPO), Amyris (IPO), Ooma (IPO), Peregrine Semiconductor (IPO), Motricity (IPO), Infinera (IPO), Force10 (acquired), Xsigo (acquired), RMI (acquired), Wayport (acquired), Oculii (acquired), and more.

Before R7, I was an early team member and Managing Director at AEI from 2006 to 2012, a pioneer in capital formation for late-stage venture-backed companies alongside Khosla, NEA, Benchmark, and KPCB.

I work with founders, CEOs, investors, and companies at critical moments — capital formation, strategic positioning, revenue growth, M&A and the messy work of turning technical ambition into durable companies.
